May is for Noah

Noah had quite the month in May. He graduated from Preschool (yes folks, Noah will be going to Kindergarten in August), turned 5, and had his birthday party! We love you, Noah!

Noah, acting shy, on stage with his teacher, Ms. Laura. She asked him what he wants to be when he grows up. He said he wants to be a Dad... how cute!

Noah wanted a basketball party... the cake and pinata were basketball... then we had magician "Steve" perform his mysterious magic tricks and everyone got to splash in the kiddie pool in the back yard. (thanks, Rachel, for being our videographer... video of the magic show coming soon!)

I'm Green

Yesterday at the Rockin River in Round Rock Janet was carrying Austin through the kiddie pool.

Austin noticed a little bably playing in the water.

Austin: "That's a baby"
Janet: "Yes it is"
Austin: "That's a black baby"
Janet: "You're right, the baby is black"
Austin, very matter of factly: "I'm Green"

What are you wearing?

I've been potty training Austin this last week. We went to Target and he picked out Diego big-boy underwear and is so proud of them. He's actually catching on more quickly than I expected... but that's not what this post is about... He hasn't been napping very regularly the past month or so. I put him down every day around 1pm, but he only falls asleep about every other day or so. He always tells me, "No beddy time" when it's time for nap. Yesterday he had a big long nap, so today, of course, he didn't fall asleep. I put him down at 1 and he was in there playing around for about an hour... then I heard him crying and crying and bawling. I decided to just go get him up.... when i went in there I was taken by surprise... he was completely NAKED... shirt, shorts and diaper... completely taken off!!! I just started busting up laughing... I resisted running to get the camera. He just lay there looking sheepish.(you probably know the look) Luckily he didn't pee everywhere... I don't know if he just wanted to be naked because he's only been wearing undies this week and was used to that or if he was just bored and decided do something fun and exciting! what am I going to do with this crazy 2 year old!

We're going on vacation this summer to San Jose in June! I found an awesome deal on SWAirlines nonstop from Austin to Oakland for $79.00/each way. WOO HOO! We'll get to hit the beach, SF, and visit with all my family! Can't wait... Now it's just getting there with 3 kids on the airplane... augh!

Here are some pictures of our last visit... I'm getting VERY excited...you can tell it was a long time ago by how young our kids are!

7 in one day!

Ok... I've been AWOL for about 2 months on my blogging... so here you get all my posts at once. I just spent 4 hours (in between getting breakfast for the kids, etc.) posting what we've been up to for the past little bit.... so don't forget to scroll down and look at them all! (there are 7!)

HAPPY EASTER

Here are pics from Easter. I couldn't get a good one of the kids... Austin kept making these weird faces (it didn't help that he was eating jelly beans during this photo shoot) and finally he smiled and Em was showing too much leg and making a weird face! :) Oh well, cute kids anyway... Happy Easter!

Lice and Boot

This sounds like a fun post, huh? Well, 2 weeks ago tomorrow I found lice in Emily's hair. We have no idea where it came from. It was spring break when I found it, but I guess she could have gotten it at school before spring break! I found it when I was doing her hair for church... needless to say, none of us went to church that day because I didn't know who had it in our family. That day was filled with lice treatment shampoo and brushing out Emily's hair for 3 hours, vacuuming the floors, furniture, matresses, doing laundry, laundry and more laundry (it took me 1 week to finish all the laundry), and bagging up stuffed animals. It was pretty much a nightmare. Our heads itched the whole day, but I guess it was all in our heads because Emily was the only one who got it! Steve buzzed Austin and Noah's heads as a preventive measure. Every night the rest of that week was filled with me brushing out Emily's hair for 2 hours at a time. It was not a pleasant experience for either of us. A huge thank you to my friend, Lanae who let me use an all-natural treatment and comb she had from when her daughter had it a couple of months ago. It worked soooo much better than the pharmacy version. I am convinced the lice would have come back if it wasn't for the all-natural treatment and comb... it actually kills the eggs, so they can't hatch and lay more eggs. Here's Em during one of her treatments... I can't believe she has a smile on her face... she was crying and whining usually the whole time. Oh and she didn't make it to school on time the whole next week because she didn't go to bed until 10pm or after every night during the treatments. Ok... that same week I found lice in Em's hair, I broke my foot. Wow... what a week. I don't even really know how I broke it. I ran 5 miles on Saturday and the next day I woke up and my foot was swollen and sore. I waited 4 more days, but it just seemed to be getting worse. I went to the podiatrist to get x-rays... the doc said I had a stress fracture and I can't run for 2 months. He gave me a really cool boot to wear for 2 months. I'm so bummed because, first of all, I was training with my friend, Joy to run a 10-k at the end of April, so that's out. And second of all, running is my best form of exercise and helps me stay in shape. I actually can't do ANY exercise that I usually do for 2 months! YIKES! I came to the conclusion that I will do my pilates dvds every day while I have my boot. What a great week, huh? sorry... no pics of my boot yet.

Gardening, Worms, and Sprinklers

A couple of weekends ago we decided to change our flowerbed out front. I weeded for like 3-4 hours! Steve was in charge of picking out the flowers/plants since I was in charge last year and I didn't like how it turned out (plus I was too tired from weeding to go to the store and make decisions). He picked out white, purple and yellow flowers. He said they were Easter colors! :) Planting (sorry, no pictures of me weeding)
The boys were fascinated by the earthworms. Noah was all over playing with them, but Austin wouldn't touch them! They finally picked one to be their pet and put it their bug "house" with dirt and named it Wormy.
It was dark by the time we finished... we turned on the sprinklers to water the flowers... the boys had fun running through them in their clothes.
Here's the finished garden. We still have to put mulch down, so I don't have to spend more time weeding...

Bike Ride to Blockbuster

Since we got new bikes for Christmas (and a trailer) we decided to go on a bike ride. We've been on many, but this time instead of staying in our neighborhood and going to one of our parks, we decided to ride a little longer... to Blockbuster! It was downhill on the way there, but uphill as we rode home. Emily did great. The hardest part of the whole trip was agreeing on the movie! Here are a couple of pics of Em on her bike and the boys in the trailer.

The many faces of Em

Em stole our camera and took about 10 self portraits... so when I was looking through the pics one day there were all of em's cute faces... here are a few of my favorites.

Emily turns 7!

My Emily turned 7 on February 22nd. She's our sweetheart... Happy Birthday, Em!

The Easy Bake gift... She's been asking for forever!

She had her friend birthday party at the Ceramic Cellar with the theme of High School Musical. You'll never guess what gifts she got with that theme. Every girl got to paint their own little ceramic figure and we had pizza and cake. It turned out really fun.

We also had a family/cousin party the day after her birthday where she got more HSM stuff!
